Job Overview
  • Repair different type of equipment related to building structures for on-site and off-site properties.
  • Carpentry tasks, woodworking, installation of new wood products (doors, windows),
    ** mop board**, wood trim, drywall work, etc.
  • Visually patrol all areas of the facility and grounds to ensure the safety of patients, visitors and employees.
  • Perform visual assessment of surroundings and take appropriate action on potential issues and repair needs.
  • Work will be performed in an ethical and legal manner following organizational policies, processes, protocols and procedures.
  • Responsible for quality service delivery and internal/external customer relations for the organization as a whole, including upholding the mission and values for the department and facility.
Essential Functions
  • Locate, inspect, and repair facility equipment as instructed to meet department maintenance schedule or requests.
  • Cut out damaged areas of walls, replace with new drywall, tape joints, mud and sand joints, prepare areas to be painted as needed.
  • Repair and replace wooden furniture, hallway and office doors, closet doors, mop boards, base boards, wood trim windows as needed to enhance the appearance of the facility.
  • Perform rounds, check for locked and unlocked windows and doors to ensure security of the building and premises.
  • Lock and unlock entrances and other areas at designated times to prevent unauthorized ingress to the facility.
  • Devise and build various brackets, mounts and fasteners for different hookups, attachments, and accessories to improve machinery and equipment or to meet patient needs as instructed to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Accurately complete and maintain department records on routine preventative maintenance, equipment repaired and equipment in need of repair. Record breaches of security and other unusual incidents.
  • Takes readings from gauges on heating and cooling equipment and powered generators.
  • Direct patients, family and emergency personnel to proper areas, according to established procedures. Maintain and ensure a safe environment for the department.
  • Operate all necessary equipment and perform required duties according to established safety standards to maintain compliance with regulations and prevent injury.
  • Depending on weather conditions, operate snow and ice control/removal equipment as needed.
  • Follow instruction from supervisor to perform functions as assigned in order to achieve the goals within the department.
  • Respond to requests for assistance in the event that the need to subdue a patient, visitor or employee is anticipated.
  • Assist other employees within the department as requested.
  • Position, modify, and reposition water hoses and sprinklers for watering of lawn and grass areas.
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions
  • Requires standing – walking 90-95% of the time.
  • Requires mobility – bending, twisting, crawling, climbing, balancing, etc., 45-50% of the time.
  • Exposed to loud noises, vibrations, dusty and dirty conditions.
  • 85% inside – 15% outside work – exposed to extreme temperature changes, with wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Medium work – lifting up to 50 pounds maximum with occasional carrying of up to 25 pounds.
  • May be exposed to biohazardous materials.
  • Mobility required to travel to scheduled events or meetings as needed.
Qualifications
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalency.
  • Two years experience in carpentry, building maintenance or related field required.
  • Valid Nebraska driver’s license and proof of driving record required.
  • Background checks are conducted. When specific authorization forms are requested so that full background and history can be obtained, employees/applicants must sign the form(s) requested.
