This lead position oversees and performs day-to-day yard operations of shipping, receiving, loading, customer service, and inventory control for NEBCO Concrete Materials. The position is also responsible for setting a standard of performance and teamwork and being responsive to the needs of the department. The lead fills in when needed due to absences of personnel and must abide by the Company Safety Program and Policies while performing duties safely.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Operate in a lead capacity that requires oversight of the work of others by training, evaluation, and guidance.
- Work with the dispatcher and other personnel to process orders and loading/transport of materials.
- Provide support, assistance, and backup in the absence of personnel by training and learning all aspects of the position.
- Ensure the yard area is maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
- Assure SDS forms are maintained and up to date for accurate information and immediate review.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
- 3 years previous related experience in a construction &/or construction products industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous forklift and front‑end loader experience required.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read and comprehend delivery tickets and invoices, load and sales tickets, SDS sheets, and the company safety manual.
- Ability to understand work direction.
- Must have a good sense of detail and work to maintain a clean and safe yard and warehouse environment.
- Must have previous responsive and courteous customer service support.
- Must be able to recognize a need to support department responsiveness without being told.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one‑ or two‑step instructions.
- Must be able to distinguish between safe and unsafe conditions in the yard and in the warehouse.
- Must be able to work late or irregular hours.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and able to climb to heights of 125 feet.
Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions with minimal non-hazardous dust daily. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, loud noise environment, and vibration. Tobacco‑free campus.
