Overview

The Registered Nurse will deliver safe and compassionate nursing care for all patient populations by planning, implementing, and evaluating the patient plan of care. The RN collaborates with nurses, physicians, and other members of the clinical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care.

Responsibilities
  • Develops a plan of care that identifies interventions to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Evaluates patient progress toward attainment of outcomes, systematically revises diagnosis, interventions, and expected outcomes as needed.
  • Provides patient assessment and collection of health data involving patient, family and other health care providers.
  • Communicates plan of care to patient and family, respecting their wishes and mutual goal setting.
  • Communicates patient data to physician and interdisciplinary team as indicated.
  • Documents patient health data, interventions and communications.
  • Individualizes patient and family teaching based on thorough assessment to meet specific learning needs, considering cultural background and learning style.
  • Provides teaching on disease management, emergency care, and drug information when appropriate; identifies community resources to support self‑management.
  • Interacts with and contributes to professional development of peers, students and other health care providers; shares knowledge, provides feedback, and supports clinical education.
  • Assigns or delegates tasks as needed.
  • Nurtures a compassionate environment by providing psychological support.
  • Assists technical staff with injection of contrast, venipuncture, and administration of drugs, 02 therapy, and IV management.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and nursing research; keeps abreast of research and practice trends in wound/ostomy/skin care through professional networking and ongoing education.
  • Supports staff in using research and providing evidence‑based care.
  • If skilled, conducts daily rounds of wound/ostomy/skin care patients and monitors effectiveness of treatment plans and other aspects of wound/ostomy/skin care.
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assists in the transportation of acutely ill patients as needed.
