Water Operator

This position is eligible for a Hiring Incentive up to $2000

Under direct supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform semi-skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and operation of the city’s water/wastewater utility systems, lines, lift stations, pump stations, and associated equipment. Employees in this class are engaged in the construction and repair of water and wastewater mains and attendant devices. Work includes connection of fittings, excavation for the installation and repair of lines, the testing and monitoring of water pressure, job-site restoration tasks, and all other water and wastewater utility related tasks.

High school diploma or GED; with six (6) months of previous experience that demonstrates ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the essential functions; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

• Must be bondable.
• Requires ability to acquire grade “D” water certification from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality within 12 months (1 year) of hire date.
• Requires ability to acquire a class “A” CDL - with Tanker Endorsement within 12 months (1 year) of hire date.
• Work Zone Safety Certification within 12 months (1 year) of hire date.
