Maintenance/Purchasing Technician
We are seeking a detail-oriented Maintenance/Purchasing Technician to support daily maintenance, administrative and operational activities. Responsible for managing the flow of maintenance parts, tools, and consumables to service the plant and production needs. This role works closely with maintenance, purchasing, warehouse, and operations teams to ensure parts availability, inventory accuracy, vendor performance and cost control while minimizing downtime.
Responsibilities- Manage inventory levels for maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) materials, ensuring critical spare parts are available for equipment reliability.
- Coordinate the purchasing of maintenance parts, tools, and services, including tracking and expediting purchase orders and deliveries.
- Maintain accurate inventory and purchasing records within the SAP system.
- Collaborate with maintenance planners to forecast parts demand for preventive maintenance and shutdowns.
- Identify and manage obsolete, excess, and slow-moving inventory while supporting cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, monitoring performance, lead times, and pricing.
- Assist with budget control, cost reduction initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts, including lean inventory practices.
- Coordinate emergency procurement of critical parts during equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Ensure proper storage, organization, and timely receipt of materials while upholding 5S standards in the stockroom.
- Maintain compliance with safety and environmental requirements.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree or technical training preferred.
- Understanding of industrial equipment and maintenance terminology.
- Experience in industrial maintenance, warehousing, purchasing, or supply chain.
- Knowledge of MRO inventory and industrial equipment parts.
- Experience using SAP.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and One Note.
- Ability to prioritize urgent operational needs.
- Strong attention to detail and inventory accuracy.
