Primary Purpose of PositionProvide cleaning services for areas within Academic, Sporting, and Event-affiliated facilities of the University, which consist of more than three million square feet. Position performs housekeeping and floor maintenance, upholstery cleaning, snow removal, operating laundry service machines, and performing laundry-handling duties. Provide setup and breakdown of all types of equipment and apparatuses used by sports programs and special events. Demonstrate a variety of skills, in multiple trades, to maintain facilities for accommodation of various uses including academics, sporting events, special events and use by the public.
Maintain a campus environment which is functional, attractive, safe, and conducive to a cost-effective manner. Personnel are required to train to their potential in order to achieve the most effective development methodology to obtain the greatest output from all resources. This position serves as a trainer for Housekeeping positions. This position serves as fill-in for housekeeping positions.
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Special certification may be required for some of these positions.
Essential Job Functions- If employee is assigned to work in a designated security sensitive area, employee is required to undergo an extensive background check under the administration of the ASU Police Department and complete a Security Awareness Training with updates as required.
- Primary duties include extensive floor and carpet cleaning, to include but not limited to:
Carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, floor scrubbing with neutral cleaning chemicals and floor stripping using an emulsifier. - Window washing is also a responsibility of this position.
- Position is responsible for inventory tracking of required cleaning materials, supplies and equipment in order to perform duties.
- These inventory / equipment closets will be maintained in a neat and orderly manner. All equipment will be cleaned and maintained after daily use.
- Responsible for filling in for Housekeepers, as needed, to help maintain proper APPA cleanliness ratings.
- Develop and maintain a productive and supportive working relationship with fellow employees, supervisor and customers.
- Recognize potential and current problems in services to a number of different customers. Address and resolve problems daily in a respectful and courteous manner.
- Adhere to administrative policies and procedures in accordance with employee Resource Manual and other state and departmental policies such as reporting to work, use of leave, employee relations.
- Performs daily servicing of all equipment used to insure safety and proper performance.
- Listens to instructions and asks necessary questions to understand how to complete tasks. Will meet with Environmental Services Supervision or Management on a daily basis to ensure proper schedule is followed.
- Listens to co-workers questions and feedback to those questions in order to continue with tasks.
- Asks supervision to explain any directions that remain unclear in order to complete tasks. Provide accurate and concise warehouse requisition forms in order to maintain adequate inventory of all necessities. Give forms to appropriate personnel for processing in a timely manner.

- Leads by example in the work area by experience and training to overcome problems in the work area.
- Ability to communicate and work together with building occupants to address and solve problems and schedule regular and special floor / cleaning projects.
