Hiring Range:

  • Tech I: $21.00 - $23.50/hour
  • Tech II: $23.65 - $26.50/hour
  • Tech III: $27.50 - $31.25/hour

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Parks Supervisor, the Parks Maintenance Technician performs a wide variety of skilled maintenance duties to ensure District parks, athletic fields, trails, open spaces, playgrounds, facilities, and public amenities are safe, clean, attractive, and well‑maintained. Responsibilities include turf maintenance, athletic field preparation, park and facility maintenance, equipment operation, construction projects, and snow removal.

Essential Functions
  • Perform routine maintenance of District parks, greenbelts, athletic fields, trails, playgrounds, facilities, and public spaces.
  • Prepare and maintain athletic fields for practices, games, and tournaments.
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain playground equipment, park amenities, picnic shelters, fencing, benches, signs, bollards, trash receptacles, and other District infrastructure.
  • Perform custodial duties including cleaning and maintaining public restrooms, shelters, pavilions, and other District facilities as assigned.
  • Perform concrete removal and finishing, drainage, trail, fencing, playground, landscape, and construction improvement projects.
  • Perform snow and ice removal from sidewalks, trails, parking lots, parks, and District facilities.
  • Safely operate and maintain a variety of equipment including commercial mowers, tractors, skid steers, loaders, dump trucks, backhoes, trenchers, snowplows, bucket trucks, stump grinders, wood chippers, chainsaws, utility vehicles, and hand and power tools.
  • Assist with special events, emergency response, and other departmental projects.
  • Lead, train, and monitor seasonal staff in maintenance procedures, equipment operation, and safety practices (Technician II and III).
  • Provide excellent customer service to residents and respond professionally to public inquiries.
  • Consistently promote a positive, professional image of the district and always provides excellent customer service, while demonstrating the district’s core values of respect, accountability, integrity, continuous improvement, engagement, and relationship building.
