Job Summary:

The Upholsterer is responsible for completing all assigned upholstery projects to include not limited to: furniture, automotive and marine used in the Yellowstone concession operation. This is a full-time, year-round position located in Yellowstone National Park and based out of the Gardiner, MT location. This position reports directly to the Manager of Support Services.

• Responsible for completing all assigned upholstery projects such as furniture, automotive, and marine.
• Responsible for the re-weaving and refurbishing of wicker, cane and rattan furniture.
• Responsible for accurately estimating and maintaining an adequate supply of upholstery supplies and reporting inventory needs to the Support Services Manager.
• Ability to safely operate tools like sewing machines, staple guns, and tack hammers.
• Responsible for assisting Furniture Refinisher with the repair and refinishing of furniture.
• Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, well-organized work area.

• Ability to repair or replace the padding, springs, and fabric on furniture, including items like chairs, sofas, and vehicle seats. They also finish and repair the furniture's wooden frame.
• Ability to apply materials like foam, cotton felt, and polyester to create the soft cushioning for furniture.
• Ability to accurately measure, cut, and sew the chosen fabric or leather to fit the furniture piece.
• Decorative and design experience in creation of custom, unique pieces and addition of accessories such asbuttons, trim, or other accessories.
• Performs additional responsibilities as assigned and provides support to other departments as necessary to meet operational needs.

Physical Requirements include:

• Must be able to walk and/or stand for at least 30 minutes at a time.
• Ability to lift and move objects that can be heavy, often up to 40-50 pounds.
• Must be able to work at elevations of more than 7700 feet.
• Fine motor skills are crucial for tasks like cutting, sewing, and using small hand tools. This includes manual dexterity and arm-hand steadiness. Good hand-eye coordination is necessary for precise work.
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, and kneel while working.
