Driver​/Laborer

Overview

Position: Driver/Laborer – Full Time
Department: Homer Tree Care, Inc.

Job Summary: The Driver/Laborer is responsible for all groundwork, including but not limited to the operation of various pieces of power equipment. Frequently assists the Crew Leader, Aerial Lift Operator, or Tree Climber with aspects of their work. THIS POSITION IS PHYSICALLY DEMANDING.

• Ensures proper use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
• Demonstrates defensive driving skills
• Able to park and back up vehicles
• Understands work-zone, landing-zone, drop-zone guideline
• Performs job site hazard inspection
• Performs traffic control
• Sets up and positions wood chipper
• Demonstrates proper wood chipper operation
• Equipment preparation and start up
• Able to do basic knots and rope handling
• Being mindful about safety and avoiding struck-by injuries
• Dragging and stacking brush and other materials
• Operation and storage of chain saws, gas and oil, and other equipment

• MUST hold a Class-A CDL license
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Must be able to bend and stand for long periods of time
• Diligent attention to detail and safety
• Excellent verbal communication and customer orientation
• Must pass a background check and drug test
• Working conditions sometimes include both high heat and cold temperatures
• Physically Demanding - requires considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

• Starting pay is $20-24/hr
• Pay is determined by experience, skill, education, and other factors
• Able to enroll in benefits after 60-day new hire probation period
