Job Purpose

To perform loading/unloading of RJW trucks and outside carriers; ensure all shipments are properly stored in the warehouse; pick orders from warehouse inventory as directed by customer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Loading/unloading truck/trailers safely and efficiently using proper procedures, including outside carrier equipment.
  • Picking and moving items from 1 lb to 50 lbs or more multiple times.
  • Ensure all documentation is properly completed.
  • Coordinate with dispatch and sales to resolve any discrepancies.
  • Properly store all inbound loads in the correct warehouse location.
  • Ensure all shipments are properly marked before storing/picking.
  • Maintain warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping.
  • Spot trailers to maintain efficient yard organization and flow of equipment into warehouse.
  • Coordinate paperwork with drivers after normal dispatch operations are finished for the day.
  • General maintenance of area surrounding warehouse.
  • Ensure trailers are swept clean of any debris when empty.
  • Ensure all shipments are correctly staged and loaded properly.
  • Process outbound freight and cross‑dock freight as necessary.
  • Ability to operate stand‑up reach forklifts, cherry pickers, and some sit‑down forklift work.
  • Follow all safety procedures at all times.
  • Must be able to build pallets and break down stock.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced warehouse.
  • Other tasks as assigned by manager.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Must know how to operate a forklift, cherry picker, and stand‑up reach forklift.
  • Good communication, problem resolution and people skills.
  • Ability to maintain orderly operation of warehouse.
Qualifications
  • 1 year forklift driving experience.
  • Certified forklift license.
Education and/or Experience Required
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
Language Skills Sets
  • Must be able to communicate, read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure; use whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to determine “root cause” of problem and determine corrective action.
Computer Skills
  • Knowledge of business operating systems, internet software, word processing and spreadsheet software.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to activate phone systems using keyboards and buttons.
  • Must be articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others.
  • Regularly works in an indoor/office environment and is required to sit and/or use repetitive hand motion.
  • Frequently required to talk, hear, stand and walk.
  • Must be able to work in excess of continuous 8 hours when required.
