The General Maintenance Worker will assist One Family Illinois Director of Facilities with the maintenance and equipment needs of One Family Illinois buildings and grounds in a manner consistent with quality and long‑term preservation of the facilities/grounds.
RESPONSIBILITIES:- Works in all areas of maintaining the buildings, grounds and equipment of the Villages and other One Family Illinois sites, including but not limited to working with electrical, plumbing, painting, removing/adding flooring and carpentry needs, including responsible for working with tools, ladders, and maintenance supplies as needed to complete the tasks. Maintains facilities by providing needed interior and exterior painting including preparing surfaces by scraping;
using commercial paint removers; filling cracks and holes. - Assesses needs for repairs and coordinates to ensure appropriate work is complete when needed for windows, roofing, tuck pointing, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, framing, drywall, or other parts of building structures which includes installations.
- Maintains safe work procedures by erecting scaffolds, ladders and safety barriers, as directed.
- Maintains cleanliness of all public and administration buildings and outbuildings, and the upkeep of grounds which includes, but is not limited to: lawn care, salt spreading, snow removal, trash pick‑up and removal and landscaping.
- Helps ensure the appropriate use and proper care of agency vehicles including but not limited to: changing bulbs and fuses and taking vehicles in for service.
- Assists with set‑up and take down for meetings and special events, provides assistance with the pick‑up and delivery of donated items, and with holiday and special events that may include some evening hours and some weekends.
- Attends general agency staff meetings, in‑service education and training, individual supervision and other meetings as directed by the Director of Facility Maintenance or Supervisor.
- Assists Director with special maintenance projects and performs other duties as assigned.
- Previous experience in a facilities or maintenance related field or role.
- Ability to complete basic repair and maintenance reports, solve basic facility problems: follow through, promptness and the ability to self‑manage are required.
- Valid Illinois driver license, good driving record, insured and reliable transportation.
