Custodian

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Custodian to join our team at Locust Grove Middle. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This full-time position requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

• Perform general cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and sanitizing classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas.
• Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
• Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.
• Assist with setting up and breaking down furniture and equipment for school events and activities.
• Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify management when restocking is needed.
• Follow established procedures for cleaning and sanitizing to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
• Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the overall cleanliness and upkeep of the facility.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous custodial or janitorial experience is a plus, but not required.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies, as well as safety procedures.
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects, as well as perform physical tasks for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed.
• A valid driver's license may be required for transportation of supplies or equipment.
