$18.15 - $19.10 PER HOUR

JOBSUMMARY AND PURPOSE
The Custodian I performs daily janitorial duties, minor repairs, adheres to janitorial schedules, and may be tasked to perform at multiple locations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Maintains interior and exterior of facility (building, parking lot, grounds) in good condition
- Daily cleaning of assigned areas with various products
- Restock bathrooms
- Wash and replace room linen daily or as required
- Dust, window cleaning, waste cans, vacuum lobby and hallways
- Performs or assists in minor repairs (carpentry, plumbing, interior painting, refurbishing, cleaning, landscape, irrigation)
- Follows daily checklist; ensures tools and supplies are stocked and secured in store rooms; maintains cleanliness and order of store rooms
- Checks facility daily for safety concerns; understands local and building safety codes, OSHA, health department, EPA requirements; reports deficiencies to management
- Prepares and sets up rooms for meetings, classes and events
- Travels to various VOALA Children Services facilities as required
- Other duties as assigned
- Perform daily janitorial work, checking facility for maintenance or safety issues
- Perform minor repairs, report deficiencies to management
- Assist maintenance teams when required
- Event set-up
- Keep inventory of tools and supplies current
- Other duties as required and may be subject to change
- Pass fingerprint clearance, background check (criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications)
- Proof at hire: TB clearance within 6 months prior; annual influenza vaccination (Nov 1 – Mar 31); pertussis and measles immunization
- Health screening at employment
- Ability to interact with children in a busy environment; lift up to 50 lbs.; frequently kneel, squat; move quickly
- California driver's license in good standing, good driving record, insurance in force
- Experience cleaning high foot traffic areas and bathrooms or similar building maintenance experience
- High school diploma (or GED/HSE certificate)
- Custodial or building maintenance experience in a shelter or a school setting
- Ability to read and write instructions in English
- Background in construction trades
- Familiarity with homelessness and related issues
