The Town of Mammoth Lakes has two (2) open positions in the maintenance space:
Parks Maintenance Worker and Parks/Public Works Maintenance Worker – Hybrid. Depending on candidate qualifications, either of these positions may be offered to an individual.

Park Maintenance Worker – $51,063 - $71,850 Annually Definition

To perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of parks, sidewalks, and other Town facilities.

Supervision Received and Exercised

Receives general supervision from the Maintenance Superintendent and direction from the Parks Maintenance Lead Worker, or designee.

Park/Public Works Maintenance Worker – Hybrid – $54,205 - $76,271 Annually Definition

Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of parks, sidewalks, and other Town facilities with the Parks Maintenance Division during the summer months. Plays an integral part of the Town’s snow removal operations with the Street Maintenance Division in the winter months. Individuals in this position must be willing to work a varied schedule, including weekends and holidays.

May work nights.

Supervision Received and Exercised

Receives general supervision from the Public Works Maintenance Manager, or designee, when assigned to the Public Works Street Maintenance Division, with indirect supervision from the Public Works Director/Town Engineer. Receives direct supervision from the Maintenance Superintendent, or designee, when assigned to the Parks Maintenance Division, with indirect supervision from the Parks and Recreation Director/PIO.

Park Maintenance Worker duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Maintain plantings and grounds, recreation and play areas, athletic fields, and inline/ice skating rinks.
  • Water, weed, trim, renovate, fertilize, and mow lawns.
  • Rake leaves, clean walks, fields, courts, and other facilities.
  • Spade and otherwise prepare ground around plants and shrubs, including mixing and applying fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides.
  • Plant and maintain trees, flowers, and shrubs.
  • Pick up rubbish and paper, and perform general grounds cleaning.
  • Maintain sprinklers and irrigation equipment.
  • Prepare and maintain athletic fields.
  • Operate power mowers, edgers, sprayers, and other equipment.
  • Participate in moving and installing park and recreational equipment.
  • Drive vehicles used to transport materials, tools and equipment as required.
  • Build rough wooden structures as barricades, fences and scaffolds; perform rough carpentry on park buildings.
  • Perform janitorial work in park buildings, including restrooms.
  • Perform minor electrical, mechanical, and plumbing repairs.
  • Assist in making repairs on doors, windows, floors, lockers, gates, roofs, and ceilings.
  • Apply paint to building interiors, exteriors, fixtures and/or equipment; strip and paint or stain cabinets, doors, and woodwork.
  • Remove snow from designated Town trails, parking lots, walkways, service roads and ice rinks.
  • Help maintain and repair pool water treatment systems.
  • Maintain and repair tennis courts and related equipment.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Park/Public Works Maintenance Worker – Hybrid duties include, but are not limited to:
Street Maintenance
  • Operate construction and maintenance equipment such as loaders, graders, plow trucks, snowplows and blowers, cinder spreaders, rollers, striping equipment, and street sweepers to perform a variety of construction, maintenance, and snow removal operations involving streets, sidewalks and gutters, roadway shoulders, and storm drains.
  • Spread and compact asphalt concrete in patching, repairing, and reconstruction of streets.
  • Use concrete cutting and breaking equipment; operate a jackhammer; place and finish concrete; construct concrete forms; and perform carpentry work.
  • Install traffic cones, lights, signs, and barricades as necessary.
  • Repair drainage ditches, storm drains, catch basins, and storm drain pipes.
  • Perform work in emergency situations as required.
  • Operate specialized equipment in the striping and marking of streets, crosswalks, and curbs.
  • Manufacture and install traffic signs and poles; remove when no longer required.
