Job Summary
Plan, supervise and participate in the activities of an assigned custodial crew; assure buildings and surrounding grounds are maintained clean, orderly, and secure; schedule and supervise the crew; perform related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities- Train, schedule, supervise and evaluate the performance of an assigned custodial crew; prepare cleaning schedules; inspect completed work for accuracy and compliance with instructions; interview and select employees; prepare required evaluation forms; recommend employee disciplinary actions.
- Inspect custodial runs, grounds, and buildings, checking for safety hazards and maintenance needs; inspect rooftops, rain gutters, downspouts, site for fire safety; report wear or damage.
- Supervise and participate in cleaning classrooms, cafeterias, kitchens, auditoriums, offices and other facilities; empty waste receptacles; spot mop spills; remove gum, debris and graffiti; oversee cleanup.
- Oversee cleaning and disinfecting of drinking fountains and restroom facilities; install and refill dispensers; clean mirrors and tile.
- Lock and unlock doors and gates; maintain security of assigned areas; report security issues; set alarms.
- Participate in and direct cleaning and sweeping of campus buildings and grounds; pick up paper and debris; wash windows and walls.
- Move and arrange furniture and equipment; dust and polish; assemble and perform minor repairs.
- Participate in thorough cleaning and restoration of facilities during vacation periods.
- Operate custodial equipment such as vacuums, mops, small hand and power tools, buffer/scrubber machines; operate computer, two‑way radio and other office equipment; drive a personal or district vehicle.
- Replace light bulbs and tubes, clean chalkboards and erasers, empty pencil sharpeners; clean tables, chairs, walls, windows, blinds, and floors; control boilers and heaters.
- Prepare venues for special events; set up and assemble chairs, tables, furniture; operate and maintain audio‑visual equipment; clean up after events.
- Confer with assigned supervisor on custodial and maintenance needs.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports on personnel, safety and activities.
- Monitor inventory levels of supplies, materials and equipment; order, receive and maintain inventory; monitor emergency containers.
- Communicate with local law enforcement and public safety; participate in disaster drills; perform emergency shut‑off of major utilities; operate emergency generators.
- Perform related duties as assigned.

- Modern cleaning methods for floors, blackboards, carpets, furniture, walls and fixtures.
