Under the supervision of the Associate Director, the Lead Custodian will supervise custodial personnel and ensure housekeeping standards meet HRL expectations. The Lead will also provide custodial services in Student Housing complexes, manage building cleanliness, safety, and inventory, and oversee a variety of custodial equipment and supplies.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee custodian workflow, conduct quality‑control inspections, assist with safety training, keep Material Safety Data Sheets current, track attendance, report absences to the supervisor, and assist custodians when needed.
- Provide custodial services: replace lamps in light fixtures, pick up trash and litter around buildings, wash exterior trash enclosures and sidewalks.
- Operations: check residence halls for damages and report items needing repair, inventory staff supplies and equipment, and coordinate with drape‑cleaning vendor to ensure drapes are removed, cleaned, and installed properly.
- Clean and disinfect student rooms, common areas, lounges, kitchens, and bathrooms.
- Strip and wax floors, clean windows, move furniture from one area to another, wash concrete areas outside the buildings.
- Execute delivery and pickup of guest‑requested items, maintain carts, and manage constant supply of clean linens for Summer Conference programs.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Equivalent to two years of related custodial experience.
Preferred Qualifications- Working knowledge of all aspects of custodial cleaning and general maintenance duties/services.
- Minimum of two years experience leading small groups of individuals to successfully accomplish tasks.
Driver license required.
Physical DemandsHeavy work: lifting more than 40 pounds; approximately half the time spent walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
