The Janitorial Lead provides daily direction to janitorial team members, supports inspections, completes assigned cleaning duties, responds to facility needs, and assists the maintenance team with minor repairs and general upkeep.

Exemplary Duties / Responsibilities
Janitorial Lead Responsibilities
- Lead and support janitorial staff with daily cleaning assignments.
- Ensure restrooms, offices, breakrooms, sales floors, common areas, and exterior areas are clean and presentable.
- Monitor cleaning quality and follow up on areas needing improvement.
- Assist with training janitorial team members on proper cleaning procedures, safety practices, and use of equipment.
- Report attendance, performance concerns, supply needs, and facility issues to management.
- Help create and maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment.
- Ensure cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment are used properly and stored safely.
- Support special cleaning projects, event setup, and emergency cleanups as needed.
- Perform routine inspections of assigned areas and correct issues when possible.
Maintenance Responsibilities
- Assist with minor repairs such as replacing light bulbs, tightening hardware, repairing loose fixtures, and basic wall patching.
- Help move furniture, equipment, donation bins, carts, tables, and supplies as needed.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Report larger maintenance concerns such as leaks, electrical issues, HVAC concerns, plumbing problems, or safety hazards.
- Assist maintenance technicians with simple tasks when directed.
- Help maintain exterior areas, including trash pickup, sweeping, pressure washing support, and basic grounds cleanup.
- Respond to work orders or facility requests in a timely and professional manner.
Physical Analysis
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in different weather conditions.
- Ability to safely climb step ladders when required.
- Ability to use cleaning chemicals and equipment with proper PPE.
Environment/Element Exposure
- Vibrations, hazards (physical), fumes, dust, and odors: occasionally.
- Chemicals: occasionally.
- Extreme cold, heat, wet or humid conditions: occasionally.
Education/Experience
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of janitorial or custodial experience preferred.
- Previous lead or supervisory experience preferred.
- Basic light maintenance experience preferred.
- Ability to safely use janitorial equipment, hand tools, and basic maintenance tools.
