Overview
Maintenance Technician
The Maintenance Technician ensures that all hotel facilities and equipment operate safely and efficiently. This role involves responding to repair requests, performing preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting issues across multiple systems. The engineer is proactive in identifying potential problems and maintaining equipment to prevent breakdowns, while delivering excellent guest service. This is a seasonal position starting mid May and ending mid September.
QualificationsEducation & Experience:
- Post-high school training in engineering or maintenance-related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of building maintenance experience.
- Hotel experience is a plus.
- Ability to move, lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 lbs without assistance; assist with objects over 100 lbs.
- Ability to move up and down stairs, service ramps, and ladders.
- Frequent reaching overhead and below the knees, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Must be able to work in physically demanding environments and adapt to varying conditions.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, and reach during inspections and cleaning tasks.
- Strong knowledge of safety and security policies and procedures.
- Ability to follow Hazardous Material Management Program and Lockout/Tag-out procedures.
- Skilled in using proper equipment and wearing appropriate PPE.
- Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Professional demeanor, integrity, and reliability.
- Strong communication skills and ability to interact positively with guests.
Fundamental Requirements:
- Respond promptly to guest repair requests and resolve maintenance issues independently.
- Conduct daily inspections of the property to identify safety hazards, broken equipment, and areas needing repair or renovation.
- Troubleshoot and repair various systems, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and maintain knowledge of building systems and emergency response procedures.
- Handle minor carpentry, painting, drywall repair, and cosmetic fixes.
- Operate engineering computer programs for preventive maintenance and energy management.
- Program TVs and assist with general housekeeping and engineering-related duties.
- Ensure safe operation and storage of tools and equipment.
- Use correct lifting techniques and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support hotel operations.
In accordance with New Jersey State Legislature (New Jersey Legislature Bill S2310 Sca (1R)) which requires private employers with ten or more employees to include a range of pay for all advertised jobs, promotion, or transfer opportunities. This position pays $18 - $22/hr dependent on experience.
