Definition:
The City of Longmont is seeking temporary/relief drivers for the upcoming snow removal season. A total of three positions will be sought. Positions will work assigned snow shifts during a snow event and could be either day or night time shifts. Shifts could be assigned either in advance of a snow storm or at the last minute to replace another driver.

Shifts last up to 12 hours; overtime can be earned for over 40 hours in a week. This is a perfect opportunity for construction, landscape, or over the road drivers, whose work generally slows down in the winter, to supplement their income. Performs a variety of unskilled labor for various departments within the City of Longmont. This position may be an entry-level job within various skilled labor and trades jobs including

equipment operation; distribution and collection maintenance and repair; plant operation and maintenance; and municipal airport maintenance.
Principal Duties:
• Perform grounds maintenance such as weed cutting, mowing and edging, snowplowing,
and trash removal.
• Perform building and plant maintenance such as minor repair/maintenance work,
painting, janitorial duties, etc. Assist technicians in performing difficult repair and maintenance.

• Maintain and clean City owned tools and equipment. Perform preventative maintenance and minor repair on small equipment including oil changes, washing and cleaning of vehicles, changing of filters, fueling and the like.

• Assist other employees in duties involving skilled and semi-skilled labor.
• Operate non-CDL City vehicles and equipment. Drive City trucks and vehicles.
• Clean wastewater lines, service fire hydrants, repair leaks or other components.
• Perform errands for other department personnel. Pick-up and deliver parts and
materials and equipment to work locations.
• Assist with setting up and tearing down of traffic control devices. Acts as a flagger in
work zones.
• Perform road repair activities such as the removal and replacement of asphalt, patching
and sealing street cracks, digging trenches, and debris removal.
• Perform routine street marking, painting, and sign repair.
• Assist with plant operations and dewatering tasks.
• Assist with snow plowing operations to include shift work
• Performs essential duties and additional tasks in a manner which enhances City
Attributes.
Working Environment:
Equipment used includes a variety of equipment such as air compressors, forklifts, skid steers, loaders, grinders, sealers, small tractors, chippers, rollers, small snow plows. Light power driven vehicles such as pickup trucks, vans, and autos and power and hand tools including jackhammers, concrete saws, drills, trowels, floats, rakes, shovels, and brooms. Standard office equipment including, but not limited to, personal computer and associated hardware and software, telephone, copier, calculator, and fax sufficient to process timecards, email, and look ups.

Work is performed outside and inside both night and day shifts, under varying and extreme weather conditions. Work includes exposure to noise, dust, gases and oils, solvents and chemicals. Coordination of eyes, hands, legs and body is needed. Position requires the ability to work under time constraints and in confined spaces and the use of respirators. The candidate for this position must be able to meet the physical requirements necessary to do the job.

Qualifications:
