Purpose of the Job:To provide flexible, on‑call support in school kitchens by preparing and serving meals in accordance with district nutrition guidelines and sanitation practices. This includes setting up workstations, operating equipment, and maintaining cleanliness, with a strong emphasis on customer service and teamwork.
QUALIFICATIONS and SKILLS:Minimum Requirements
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Relevant job‑related experience preferred.
Licenses/Certificates: Valid Colorado Driver’s License.
Screening: Must pass a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.
- A criminal background check is required for hire.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a school atmosphere with staff members, students, and the public.
- Ability to effectively read, write, speak, and listen to comply with directions and instructions to complete tasks and establish priorities.
- Integrity, trust, and work ethic, are required to work with little supervision.
- Competent understanding of technology to perform the job.
- A positive individual with a neat, clean appearance, pleasant, courteous demeanor.
- Must pass a pre‑employment physical.
- Ability to perform light lifting and moving of product (up to 50 to 100 lbs).
- Ability to drive if needed at another school.
- Safely performs duties following District policy and expectations.
- Implements appropriate physical and technical safeguards to protect district data's confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
- Maintain good security practices with passwords and accounts for the various district systems and applications.
- Reports actual or suspected breaches in the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of district data to appropriate district personnel.

Essential Duties of the Job:- Follow the instructions of the supervisor in the department you are assigned.
- Must have the ability to demonstrate flexibility in meeting various projects with interruptions.
- Assist with meal prep and food service, including hot and cold menu items.
- Follow sanitation and safety protocols for kitchen and serving areas.
- Serve meals efficiently and courteously to students and staff.
- Clean and store kitchen equipment and workstations as directed.
- Follow instructions from site supervisors to support smooth kitchen operations.
- Provide coverage at multiple school sites as needed.
- Maintain professional appearance and demeanor.
- Follows the direction on which area to support.
- Follows guidelines as shared in the Substitute Handbook.
- Follow school expectations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Equipment Proficiency: Familiarity with kitchen equipment and systems, including steamers, ovens, mixers, warmers, and serving lines.
- Technology Use: Proficient in operating computer hardware, POS systems, and electronic recordkeeping relevant to the assignment.
