** What You Will Do*
* The Los Alamos Neutron Science Center Facility Operations Directorate (LANSCE-FO) is seeking an Operator to join our dynamic team. The selected candidate will report to the LANSCE-FO Building Operations and Maintenance Group Leader, primarily providing facility support and performing other facility operations related functions. The Building Operations and Maintenance Group is responsible for facility management ideal candidate must provide facility support to all personnel, tenants, and visitors while ensuring a safe and secure working environment.
Additionally, you will become familiar with LANSCE-FO facilities, overall facility operations within the FOD, and provide operation assistance and support to the division.
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for a multitude of tasks pertaining to maintenance and facility operations, including:
+ Operating and monitoring facility systems
+ Managing building configurations
+ Performing routine tasks in support of operations, maintenance, science, and engineering activities
+ Follow detailed procedures, document actions, and log activities related to facility operations
+ Perform daily facility rounds and respond accordingly to facility/equipment status
+ Provide direct support in operations, specification, construction, and/or design of facility mechanical, electrical, and/or chemical systems
+ Perform routine evaluations of equipment and keep detailed logs for critical equipment
+ Observe equipment and control panels, respond to operator messages or error indicators
+ Perform diagnostic tests and react appropriately to messages, report errors or machine malfunctions
+ Provide excellent customer service to programmatic customers in alignment with laboratory goals
** What You Need*

Job Requirements:

* + Ability to understand and identify work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and experience with lock-out/tag-out of hazardous energy.
+ Knowledge of basic computer skills and word processors.
+ Ability to learn and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
+ Basic skill in conducting research, investigating alternative solutions, and recommending solutions for facility equipment.
+ Basic skill in the preparation and presentation of facility status.
+ Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
+ Ability to respond to facility emergencies and abnormal events, along with after hour call outs as directed.
+ Ability to interface between the facility operations organization and the programmatic tenants and provide general direction, guidance, and operational support to a facility to ensure the implementation of operational and programmatic functions.
** Education/
Experience:
** Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and 3 years of related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
** Training/
Certifications:
** The ability to obtain LO/TO coordinator trainings, IFMA or BOMI certificate
** Desired
Qualifications:

* + Lockout/Tagout Trained.
+ Basic knowledge and experience in a wide variety of facility maintenance activities including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems.
+ Working knowledge of building automation systems.
** Essential Job Functions (can perform with or without reasonable accommodation):
** Ability to hear high-pitched sounds, ability to hear in a normal range (500 to 3000 htz), climbing stairs, climbing ladders, bending, lifting 30 pounds, and carrying 20 to 30 pounds. Standard physical requirements associated with field observation and oversight.

Location:
** The work location for this position is fully onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
** Position commitment:
** Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
