What You Will Do

Maintenance and Site Services-LANSCE Facility Operations (MSS-LFO) is seeking a Facility Maintenance Tec 2 to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the MSS-LFO Maintenance Manager, the selected candidate will be primarily responsible for supporting the LFO Life Safety Program and ensuring its associated equipment remains compliant with applicable regulatory standards, including NFPA 10. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Participating in work execution of LFO Life Safety inspections and maintenance.
• Assist with planning, scheduling, and execution to ensure completion of inspections and maintenance in a timely manner.
• Assist in coordinating operational and programmatic activities to ensure timely access to life safety equipment within laboratory facilities.
• Document work using Mobile Work Package and eSOMS to ensure tracking of equipment status and that deficiencies are corrected promptly.
• Maintain a safe, secure and environmentally compliant work environment as defined by LANL policies and procedures.
• Ensure work has been completed according to the job scope.
• Perform other maintenance duties as assigned by line management that may be needed to support the maintenance organization.

• Basic knowledge and experience tracking preventive and corrective work orders from initiation to completion.
• Basic knowledge of facility/operational policies, practices and procedures.
• Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
• Demonstrated experience working with computers and scanners.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft office software (e.g. Excel, MS Word, Outlook, Excel).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Familiarity with Conduct of Operations, Conduct of Maintenance and Conduct of Engineering processes.
• Life Safety maintenance work experience.
• Basic knowledge of NFPA 10 requirements.
• Familiarity with CMMS Asset Suites, Mobile Work Package, and eSOMS database, Oracle OBI Reports and/or Primavera resource loading/scheduling.
• Experience working with a Facility Service Request (FSR) system.

Position requires a high school diploma and 1 - 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Peripheral vision, depth perception, reading vision, and ability to hear in normal range (500-3000 htz), climbing stairs, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, twisting the trunk or back, reaching overhead, reaching horizontally, reaching down, gripping with the hands, pressing with hands or arms, pushing with hands or arms, pulling with hands or arms, lifting 5-10 pounds, carrying 5-10 pounds.

The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.
