Travel Requirement

This position involves traveling to various clinic locations across Los Angeles County, CA.

Position Purpose

The Janitorial Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the janitorial staff of JWCH, Wesley Health Center Clinics which includes but is not limited to managing the workload, hiring, training, and supervising the custodial staff. The Janitorial Supervisor will ensure the cleanliness, maintenance and overall appearance of the facilities are maintained at a high standard. This position plays an important role of creating a clean and safe environment for patients/clients and employees.

  • Responsible for managing a team of janitorial staff, assigning tasks, and ensuring work schedules are followed and reallocating staff for absences as needed.
  • Provide guidance, training, and support to the team members, motivating them to perform their duties effectively.
  • Responsible for inspecting and evaluating the cleanliness and maintenance needs of the facility.
  • Oversee the janitorial staff in performing various cleaning tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and disinfecting surfaces.
  • Ensure that all areas, including restrooms, common areas, patient exam rooms, offices, and waiting rooms, are kept clean and presentable.
  • Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies, equipment, and materials necessary for the efficient operation of the janitorial team.
  • Monitor stock levels, place orders, and ensure proper storage and usage of supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials, adherence to safety protocols, and the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Provide training to the janitorial staff on safety procedures and maintain records of safety training and incidents.
  • Expected to step in and fill in during instances of shorthanded staffing to ensure seamless operations and maintain productivity.
  • Adhere to all organizational safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
  • Participate in required safety and compliance trainings and apply learned practices in daily work activities.
  • Identify, report, and help mitigate unsafe conditions, incidents, or hazards in the workplace.
  • Use equipment, tools, and supplies safely and responsibly in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain awareness of infection control, occupational health, and emergency preparedness procedures appropriate to the role.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Previous cleaning and sanitation experience in the health care industry is required.
  • Knowledge of custodial fundamentals including, steamer training completion, chemical/safety training completion & floor care certification.
  • Have a strong understanding of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
  • Able to exert/lift up to 50-75 lbs. Force occasionally, and/or up to 30-15 lbs.
  • Supervisor experience of managing 8 or more employees preferred.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English(Bilingual)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly.
  • Able to effectively address and resolve any conflicts or issues that may arise among staff members.
  • Possess a valid California Driver’s License and proof of insurance.
  • Require travel to various JWCH sites/program
