We are seeking a Welder Journeyman for our Canoga Park, CA location. Union position. 2nd shift.

At this facility, we design & manufacture rocket engines and unique power systems that support space exploration & the defense of our nation such as NASA’s SLS, Lockheed Martin’s THAAD, Sierra Nevada’s Dream Chaser, and the Mars Perseverance Rover.
Responsible for welding various metals of company products, fixtures, test stands, industrial structures, tooling and related equipment, components and product parts by using available welding processes including but not limited to; manual GTAW, semi-automatic GTAW, in-place-tube, automatic welding, and torch brazing. Welder is responsible for setup, and that the weldments meet the external and internal requirements of the applicable weld specification.
All work is accompanied with electronic planning and daily navigation of blueprints, weld parameters and other job support media.
- Setup weld operations and understand requirements for weld acceptance critera.
- Weld company products by certified processes maintaining critical alignment tolerances and improvising tooling and holding fixtures as required.
- Be able to be flexible in job and process, manual and in-place GTAW welding are included in day-to-day operations. Off-nominal jobs may include brazing, tool repair, R&D, and other department support.
- Must pass and maintain all required certifications training requirements to perform assigned work.
- Ability to pass Journeyman Certification, as well as other certifications as required.
- Ability to pass an appearance test at time of interview.
- A proven safety record and experience with PPE.
- Work overtime based on current production needs.
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience in related fields.
- Fabrication/ Welding schooling or equivalent can be substituted for years of experience on a 2 to 1 basis. 1.5 years of school = 3 years’ experience.
Skills:
- Three years' G.T.A.W. experience welding hard alloys to class “A” requirements or equivalent (stainless steels, titaniums, inconels and steels).
- Experience welding duct assemblies (or similar) and controlling weld distortion and shrinkage.
- Experience reading, comprehending and using planning and drawings to meet required specification requirements.
- Prior experience welding Rocket engines and or propulsion systems.
- Prior certification in In-Place-Tube, Automatic, or Robotic Welding.
- Prior certification to D17.1 or equivalent Journeyman certification.
