Facilities/IT Assistant

Salary Range $22.00 - $28.00 Hourly

Primary Function: The Facilities/IT Assistant will embrace Larchmont's mission and introduce new ideas, systems and initiatives to achieve further excellence, growth and impact. The Facilities/IT Assistant will report directly to the School Leader(s) and the Director of Operations and will be responsible for maintaining proper functioning of internal and external facility maintenance and repairs, maintaining computer hardware, systems, and networks aiming for the highest functionality.

The Facilities/IT Assistant will help in the day-to-day operations and performs tasks related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, security, environmental, safety, and custodial.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of basic construction and maintenance technics as well as basic knowledge of computer software and hardware and a variety of internet applications, networks and operating systems. This position requires a team player attitude, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, attention to details and excellent problem-solving skills. The Facilities/IT Assistant has the ability to coordinate with the Facilities Manager and IT Manager to communicate problems and collaborate a solution to address any issues.

IT Support:

  • Take direction and collaborate with the IT Manager.
  • Perform full range of on-site maintenance and repairs on assigned products to include technical diagnostics, break/fix, installation, removal and customer call assistance.
  • Manage inventory, including lost and stolen equipment.
  • Request assistance when necessary to meet school's demands and for reoccurring issues.
  • Show measurable progress in technical abilities, troubleshooting techniques and productivity.
  • Set up conference center for special events and meetings to meet school function requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining a "trunk stock" inventory with a value at or below $1000.
  • Contact contractors and vendors as necessary to resolve problems.

Facilities Support:

  • Maintain buildings, offices, classrooms, parking lots, play areas, kitchens, and other areas on campus in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
  • Perform a wide variety of custodial and maintenance tasks around campus including, but not limited to sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning, scrubbing and polishing.
  • Perform minor repairs to facilities, buildings, offices, and school campuses.
  • Clean walls, fixtures, appliances, water fountains, windows, and other surfaces, as needed.
  • Receive, check, and store custodial supplies. Maintain inventory and communicate purchasing needs to Office Manager.
  • Gathers and dispose of trash found on campuses such as litter and debris and wash waste receptacles.
  • Operate light machinery (i.e., power washer, leaf blower, vacuum, power tools)
  • Identifies and reports information regarding vandalism and theft.
  • Reports needed repairs to building hardware, plumbing, equipment, and furniture to Office Manager and/or School Leader(s).
  • Restock break room and meeting room supplies.

Other Functions:

  • Organize and direct day-to-day activities of the office to assure efficient and effective operations
  • Create Purchase Orders for needed equipment and services
  • Timely completion of invoices and expense reports
  • Maintain integrity of data through various maintenance procedures and correction of integrity problems, including; but, not limited to, anomaly resolution issues.
  • Maintain a wide variety of digital and paper files, records and related information by using different computer systems such as employee and student databases, etc.
  • Coordinate with Network Support Office and site staff to set up, implement and maintain information systems.
