Overview

Heirloom exists to connect people to places and to each other. We design, build, and operate beautiful spaces that redefine what it feels like to travel as a group. With roots in New Orleans and a growing presence in more than a dozen destinations nationwide, Heirloom blends the warmth of hospitality with the power of technology to create unforgettable group travel experiences.

Our focus on providing world-class accommodations in premier destinations, combined with a data-driven and tech-enabled operational strategy, has allowed Heirloom to carve out a distinctive position within the luxury short-term rental and property management space.

The purpose of this role is to keep Heirloom’s New Orleans pools and hot tubs clean, safe, and usable for our guests. This will involve a caseload of 10-20 pools (depending on how close they are to one another), each cleaned 2x weekly. In addition to the modest pool cleaning caseload, the pool mechanical technician will also be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, managing, and resolving mechanical problems as they arise.

Our pools are primarily Hayward equipment. While water amenities will be the central focus of this role, the pool technician should also expect to assist the maintenance and property management team with miscellaneous facilities management tasks, as the need arises.

Responsibilities
  • Measuring and balancing pool chemicals to ensure water amenities are safe for use, including adding acid, chlorine, and other chemicals to correct pH levels.
  • Cleaning the swimming pool using authorized equipment: skimming, vacuuming, and scrubbing.
  • Completing paperwork and reporting service requirements to management using a mobile application.
  • Diagnosing, servicing, and fixing faulty pool cleaning equipment; common repairs include:
  • Measuring, recording, and reporting water chemistry levels in a daily log or spreadsheet.
  • Replacing igniters, pumps, filters, thermometers, and autofill components.
  • Reconnecting remotes.
  • Fitting and repairing pipes and plumbing for spas and pools.
  • Fixing cracks or leaks in the pool structure.
  • Checking and/or replacing electrical breakers as needed.
  • Communicating with and managing third-party vendors to escalate repairs, as appropriate and maintain service records.
  • Order parts and/or pursue warranties, and be familiar with the warranty process when necessary.
  • Evaluate quotes from third-party vendors and actively negotiate rates.
  • Work collaboratively with the local property operations team to complete miscellaneous facilities management tasks.
  • Assist with onboarding new pools, including completing the intake form, programming equipment settings, and getting the pool remote online.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.
Requisites
  • Must be able to safely access pool equipment in tight spaces, including under porches or houses, on roof platforms, or in other small and confined spaces.
  • Lives in close or commutable proximity to New Orleans, LA. Must have a valid driver’s license, an upstanding driving record, and reliable transportation to and from the New Orleans market. Mileage reimbursement will be provided on a monthly basis.
  • CST or CSP pool certification strongly preferred; will consider applicants with significant experience.
  • (3-5+ years) Prior experience working on Hayward pool heaters and saltwater pool systems is a must.
  • Extensive knowledge of proper pool cleaning and maintenance methods.
  • Extensive knowledge of swimming pool chemicals and their properties.
  • Ability to comfortably lift 50 lbs independently 1-3x daily during working hours.
  • Our pools and spas are located outdoors; service is performed 2x weekly year-round, rain or shine.
Schedule & Compensation

The pool technician is a part-time hourly role based in New Orleans, LA. The work schedule is variable and is based on business needs. Each role is scheduled for approximately 24 hours per week, and the pay rate is based on experience.
