Description

Members of the Maintenance Staff are responsible for a variety of cleaning service operations rge’s Episcopal School. This person will be responsible for custodial duties, including daily cleaning, sanitation and routine care of building interiors and facilities to ensure they are safe, functional and orderly. This position is responsible for a variety of building spaces, including restrooms, stairwells, hallways, classrooms and offices.

The Maintenance Team works collaboratively during lunch duties and setting up and breaking down for events, and this person will be expected to contribute to the team during these times. As a member of the school community, this person is expected to engage professionally with all members of the community, including but not limited to maintenance teammates, students, faculty, administration and visitors on campus.

• Possess a strong work ethic, timeliness, and attention to detail
• Follow through on job requests and have the ability to spot needs on an active campus
• Have the ability to work across functions, e.g., maintenance, custodial, facilities, event set-up and break-down, etc.
• Demonstrated knowledge of custodial service procedures, standards, methods, safety, and OSHA regulations
• Perform routine custodial work such as: vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping hardwood and tiled surfaces; shampooing and spot-cleaning carpets; removing trash; cleaning, disinfecting, and stocking paper and supplies in restrooms; cleaning and disinfecting high-touch surfaces, including stair rails, door knobs, desks, doors, etc; window and class cleaning; dusting; among other custodial duties.
• Assist with daily lunch duty in the cafeteria, including sweeping and mopping, wiping tables, and setting up and breaking down lunch tables
• Have the ability to work around children
• Walk the campus on a routine basis to spot any issues that need attention and ensure they are reported to the supervisor are documented and placed on work schedule
• Ensure appropriate cleaning and maintenance standards have been achieved
• Participate in required training for all team members and ensure compliance with best practice standards
• Understand proper safety protocols in line with local, state and federal requirements and best practices
• Ensure proper cleaning techniques to ensure efficient and effective service to the campus community
• Inspect buildings on a regular basis to ensure appropriate cleaning and maintenance standards have been achieved
• Ensure that proper materials and equipment are used to complete all assignments

• Perform all other duties as assigned

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2-3 years experience in maintenance and custodial work required
• Ability to problem solve, analyze and change priorities when needed
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment with internal staff and all departments
