Building Maintenance, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Facility Maintenance

General Duties- Perform general repairs and troubleshoot in assigned areas.
- Take initiative to locate, document and repair unreported equipment/building discrepancies.
- Perform daily preventive maintenance inspections/repairs in assigned areas, including all task related documentation.
- Perform electrical safety checks in patient rooms.
- Perform repairs/safety checks on non‑patient equipment.
- Investigate maintenance requests, thoroughly investigating all maintenance requests before seeking referral to other crafts.
- Ensure all work done by other crafts is completed in assigned areas.
- Take ownership of assigned area by monitoring others working in the area to assure completeness of all repairs.
- Enter supply rooms on nursing units as needed to perform necessary job functions.
- Refrain from manipulating or removing any intravenous fluids that are stored in the area.
- Demonstrate dependability by working with other employees to accomplish required tasks and ensuring open lines of communication to complete tasks in a successful and appropriate manner.
- Maintain strong knowledge of life safety, patient safety and infection prevention measures pertaining to craft trades; inspects fire/smoke‑rated doors and wall partitions for compliance with NFPA standards; conduct routine environmental and safety rounds.
High School Diploma or GED.
ExperienceMinimum of 2 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic/technician in a corporate setting.
Licenses & CertificationsDriver's License – Class E – Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Operate hand tools, power tools, equipment and electrical testing equipment requiring manual dexterity.
- Understand oral and written instructions, schematic drawings and layouts.
- Utilize computer, printer, copier, telephone, calculator, cell phone and 2‑way radios.
- Work alternative/shift work schedules including nights, weekends, holidays and overtime hours.
- Working knowledge of computer maintenance management software.
