Maintenance Technician
The maintenance and reliability engineering team is fundamental to our operations, ensuring that our technical systems and facilities function continuously. As a maintenance technician, you will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of our technical and production facilities. You will help ensure the highest safety standards in occupational health and prevent machine downtime. Our technical team ensures high availability of technical facilities and improves the quality of our equipment.
Key job responsibilities:
- Execution of preventive maintenance measures on a wide variety of equipment at our locations
- Performing repairs and fault diagnostics
- Using the latest tools to maximize equipment effectiveness
- Compliance with all occupational health and safety guidelines and practices
- Supporting the development and professional advancement of trainees at the location
- Working on projects for continuous improvement and introducing best practices at various EU locations
A day in the life:
As a maintenance technician, you will be on-site in one of our logistics centers to quickly respond to technical disruptions. You will carry out a series of planned preventive maintenance measures on equipment to ensure their safe operation. Additionally, as a maintenance technician, you will respond promptly to disruptions and failures. You will investigate the causes, find solutions as quickly as possible, and apply them.
You will also make proposals for long-term improvements.
In collaboration with senior colleagues, you will carry out daily maintenance tasks and communicate with service providers if you need external expertise. You will work in rotating shifts to ensure we support our locations around the clock – ensuring that Amazon continues to deliver at the pace we are known for.
About the team:
Our maintenance and reliability engineering team ensures that our equipment and facilities function optimally at all times. We are a team of technicians and engineers consisting of excellent team players and led by experienced managers. We work together to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot equipment in our entire global network of fulfillment centers. Some of our members are leaders who oversee the team in working on exciting, innovative technology that is sometimes unique to Amazon.
From installing automated packaging systems to overseeing general maintenance tasks at a location and repairing equipment essential for sales, our team handles much of the technical work ng other things, we also ensure that buildings continue to comply with legal requirements so that everyone stays safe and our locations operate with maximum efficiency. There are numerous opportunities for advancement within the maintenance and reliability engineering team as well as throughout the entire Amazon company.
All our activities are aimed at reducing downtime at Amazon's key operational locations so that customers receive their orders on time. Often we work early in the morning, late at night, or in the night shift to carry out maintenance work with the least possible disruption. If we find a better way to do a particular task, we have the skills and opportunities to introduce completely new processes or groundbreaking technology like Amazon Robotics or our Complex Item Sorter.
