Part-Time Custodian at Vermillion Charter Academy

To join a team dedicated to a Relentless Commitment to Student Greatness in School and in Life™. As a Part‑Time Day Custodian, you will ensure that facilities remain clean, safe, and well maintained, supporting the educational experience of all students.

• Clean assigned interiors: hallways, restrooms, offices, classrooms, multi‑purpose rooms, and any area assigned by supervisor.
• Clean assigned exteriors: perimeter of the school building, parking lot, playground, windows, and any area assigned by supervisor.
• Empty all trash receptacles.
• Dust furniture and equipment, window sills, air vents, and any assigned area.
• Clean and sterilize restroom facilities.
• Address bodily messes (vomit, feces, urine, blood) in accordance with training.
• Remove waste from cafeteria during breakfast and lunch; assist with cleaning cafeteria tables and maintaining floor cleanliness.
• Sterilize high‑use areas to reduce bacterial spread.
• Assist the Head Custodian with cleaning projects or tasks.
• Help create and maintain preventive maintenance processes and monitoring systems for facility components.
• Travel to nearby schools or warehouse/storage sites as required.
• Participate in training programs to enhance skills and proficiency.
• Review current developments, literature, and janitorial sources of information.
• Ensure adherence to OSHA and maximum safety procedures.
• Perform other duties delegated by supervisor and follow federal/state laws and company policies.
• Maintain a handheld radio on school property when assigned.
• Remain on school property from the start of the workday until the end, including lunch.
• Take a 30‑minute lunch break, adjusted as needed for school operations.
• Report and assist with emergency situations as required.
• Avoid leaving campus for personal or school errands without permission.

• Education:
  
  minimum high school graduate with continuing education in construction or facilities.
• Experience:
  
  at least 1 year of janitorial trade experience.
• Special
  
  Qualifications:
  
  possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for the role.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the work environment characteristics are representative of the conditions the employee will encounter.

• Travel within or outside of state.
• Light work: occasional lifting up to 20 pounds, and frequent lifting up to 10 pounds.
