Overview
Madison Parish Hospital is seeking a Director of Plant Operations to lead our Maintenance and Environmental Services (EVS) departments. This role is essential to ensuring a safe, clean, and fully functional environment for our patients, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate is hands on, dependable, and experienced in hospital or commercial facility operations.
Operational Leadership- Provides day to day leadership for the Maintenance and EVS teams
- Sets work standards, schedules, and performance expectations
- Ensures timely response to work orders and facility needs
- Maintains a safe, clean, and functional hospital environment
- Supports a culture of teamwork, accountability, and service excellence
- Full time departmental leadership role
- Reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer
- Oversees building systems, preventive maintenance, life safety, and environmental cleanliness
- Key contributor to LDH and CMS survey readiness
- Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a community focused hospital
- No budgeting authority; provides operational input only
- Lead daily operations of Maintenance and EVS
- Manage preventive maintenance for all hospital equipment and building systems
- Serve as the hospital’s Life Safety Officer
- Maintain compliance with LDH, CMS, NFPA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements
- Oversee HVAC, boilers, chillers, electrical, plumbing, medical gas, and emergency power systems
- Coordinate fire drills, emergency power testing, and life safety activities
- Ensure hospital/plant equipment vendors meet performance, safety, and documentation requirements
- Track warranties and coordinate vendor inspections and repairs
- Support Infection Prevention with cleaning protocols and isolation procedures
- Maintain accurate logs, PM records, and survey documentation
- Participate in emergency preparedness planning and response
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years of experience in plant operations, facilities management, or a related field
- 3+ years of supervisory or management experience
- Working knowledge of NFPA codes, CMS Conditions of Participation, and LDH facility regulations
- Ability to manage multiple departments and complex building systems
Preferred
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, or related field
- Experience in a rural or critical access hospital
