Maintenance and Housekeeping

Metairie Park Country Day School seeks to fill the Maintenance and Housekeeping Position in our Maintenance and Housekeeping Department.

Maintenance and housekeeping employees will have:

• Maintains buildings and school grounds in top condition to ensure full and productive use of campus grounds and facilities
• Maintains a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects
• Maintains basic records of work performed
• Communicates effectively with all members of the school community
• Reacts to change productively and handles all tasks as assigned
• Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's service to the school by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a team
• Represents the school with dignity, integrity, and the spirit of cooperation in all relationships within the school community
• Positive outlook and professional demeanor

• Physical requirements/environmental conditions:
• Requires prolonged standing and/or walking
• Requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects and materials
• Requires stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching
• Requires ladder climbing & balancing
• Must work indoors and/or outside year‑round
• Must work around dust, fumes, and odors
• Must be able to operate various tools, mechanical equipment, and vehicles

• Basic principles, equipment, methods, and materials used in buildings and grounds maintenance activities
• Performing general maintenance work, individually or as a member of a crew, in various areas
• Understanding and following oral and written directions
• Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of a team or work unit's goals, objectives and activities
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those encountered in the course of work/duties
