As an Assistant Paper Machine Superintendent, you'll play a critical role in maximizing the safety, reliability, and performance of our paper machine operations.

This position serves as the bridge between production, maintenance, engineering, and reliability teams, ensuring work is planned, coordinated, and executed efficiently while supporting world-class safety and operational excellence. • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with established procedures.
• Coordinate equipment preparation, permitting, and lockout/tagout activities to support maintenance and operational work.
• Ensure required resources, materials, permits, and personnel are in place before work begins.
• Support critical safety processes including hot work, confined space entry, line break permits, and energy isolation procedures.

• Lead daily coordination meetings between operations and maintenance teams.
• Develop and manage daily, weekly, and outage maintenance schedules.
• Prioritize maintenance activities based on safety, production impact, and equipment criticality.
• Coordinate equipment downtime and maintenance windows to minimize operational disruptions.
• Partner with maintenance teams to ensure planned work is completed safely, effectively, and on schedule.

• Serve as the primary communication link between operators, maintenance personnel, engineers, and supervisors.
• Troubleshoot equipment and process issues while ensuring accurate information is shared across teams.
• Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action development.
• Identify recurring equipment or operational challenges and help implement sustainable solutions.
• Assist in developing standard operating procedures, outage plans, and job plans for major repairs and recurring maintenance activities.
• Capture lessons learned and best practices to improve future planning and execution.

• Develop detailed outage plans, including lockout requirements, operational tasks, timelines, and workforce responsibilities.
• Coordinate operational readiness for planned shutdowns and turnarounds.
• Ensure operators and supervisors understand expectations and preparations required for maintenance activities.

• Monitor and manage key process chemical inventories.
• Partner with purchasing and storeroom teams to maintain critical spare parts and operational supplies.
• Help ensure essential machine components and maintenance materials are available when needed.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in paper mill operations, maintenance, or a related industrial manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of safety systems, maintenance planning, and equipment reliability.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and related software applications.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Supervisory or leadership experience in a paper mill environment.
• Mechanical maintenance experience.
• Experience coordinating maintenance outages, shutdowns, or reliability improvement initiatives.
• Knowledge of paper machine systems and paper making processes.
