General Labor, Maintenance Worker
Hand loads waste, junk and trash into packers from thoroughfares UNDER CLOSE SUPERVISION.
Cuts Grass And Perform Other Grounds Keeping Functions- Operates trucks and other motor vehicles
- Operates small equipment and power tools
- Loads junk and trash, white goods, tree limbs, bagged leaves, dirt, etc from streets, alleys and vacant lots/structures by hand into packers
- Operates rear-end loader compacting levels
- Cuts up and trims downed trees and limbs
- Performs routine maintenance and upkeep of packers
- Assists driver in vehicle maneuvering and operations
- Rides on back of packer and loads junk/trash by hand and tips garbage
- Performs related work
- Meets regular and punctual attendance standards and any special needs of the position as determined by management, including mandatory overtime and performing related work
- Spends prolonged periods of time sitting, standing, walking, carrying, stooping and climbing
- Lifts and carries items weighing up to 100 pounds in a team setting
- Spends prolonged periods of time exposed to the elements
Minimum Requirements
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
- Must pass a pre‑employment physical agility test.
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.
- Perform heavy work that involves constantly lifting, shoveling, and carrying 35 to 50 pounds on a regular and recurring basis and exerting 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.
- Involves routine and frequent exposure to: bright/dim light; dusts and pollen; extreme heat and/or cold; wet or humid conditions; extreme noise levels; animals/wildlife; vibration; fumes and/or noxious odors; traffic; moving machinery.
