Job summary:
The technicians must be able to complete diagnosis of any mechanical, electrical, or other various failures/breakdowns of a truck or its related equipment. This position will also perform disassembly, repair, and reassembly of truck engines, transmissions, carrier assemblies, clutches, brakes, electrical systems, and any other truck or related equipment adjustment/repairs.
Essential position functions and principal accountabilities include: trained to use all tools of trade, including precision instruments and technical shop machines and diagnostic tools; use previous and on the job training to read and understand technical publications, including on-line service software and service bulletins; learn to determine usability of all component parts and must be able to list and order all needed parts using the dealer management system;
complete work accurately and timely as outlined in published time standards guidelines; write and/or type a good description of all work performed on each individual repair using the dealer management system; perform all aspects of the job safely and in accordance with OSHA and Bruckner's rules and regulations expressed and implied; understand the importance of attendance and punctuality and how it directly impacts customer service;
be a good steward of company tools and resources; and achieve and maintain certifications as required by the company, the OEM's or by Federal Law.
Examples of skills needed to master this level include: P.M. services, steam clean, P.D.I. inspections, used truck inspections, wheel seals, brake adjustments, clutch adjustments, pinion seals, foundation brake replacement (shoes, drums, & hardware), battery diagnoses & replacement, U-joints, shocks, small make ready items (mudflaps, 1/4 fenders, bug screens, bug shields, & bumpers).
Position requirements include: high school diploma desired, good interpersonal skills to interact well with customers, vendors, and co-workers in a positive and constructive manner, ability to read and write in English and understand computer generated reports, office reports, invoices, etc.
