The Equipment Operator B position with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources offers a hands‑on way to support Ohiopyle State Park. You will demonstrate your skills with operating important machinery and helping keep park areas safe and welcoming. You will take part in projects that improve trails, facilities and public spaces. This is a great opportunity to build skills while supporting a park enjoyed by visitors all year long.
This position operates specialized equipment and performs manual labor to support daily maintenance and project needs at Ohiopyle State Park. As an Equipment Operator B, you will perform the following duties:
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain large machinery used for construction, maintenance and snow removal
- Vehicle Handling: Drive and care for heavy and light vehicles to support park projects
- Facility Upkeep: Clean park buildings and collect trash throughout park grounds
- Manual Tasks: Use small motorized tools and hand tools to complete maintenance work
- Safety Practices: Inspect equipment, record usage and adjust machinery to ensure safe operation
- Tree and Snow Work: Assist with hazard tree removal and clear snow from walkways and park areas
- Full‑time employment
- This position operates seven days per week and may require work on weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Work schedules vary and include a 5 day, 37.5 hour week
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
- Any equivalent combination of experience or training.
- This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license.
- This position requires possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- You must meet the PA residency requirement.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
