DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports State Park operations by performing maintenance, repair, and groundskeeping work across buildings, equipment, and outdoor areas. As a Park Maintenance Worker, you will perform the following duties:

  • Facility Repairs:
    Make repairs to park buildings and structures using carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and related tools
  • Equipment Care:
    Operate vehicles and equipment, as well as assist with cleaning and basic maintenance
  • Grounds Work:
    Maintain outdoor areas by mowing, trimming, planting, cleaning, and preparing sites
  • Construction Tasks:
    Build simple forms, mix and place cement, and complete masonry work as needed
  • Housekeeping Duties:
    Clean restrooms, offices, and other buildings and perform minor routine repairs
  • Visitor Assistance:
    Provide helpful information to park visitors in a friendly manner

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • This is a seasonal, full-time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately March 2027.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Work shifts and days will vary. Work will consist of 5 days and 37.5 hours per week, including weekends and holidays.
  • Telework:
    You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY


Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
