DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on fabricating, modifying, and servicing assistive equipment used by residents at the Delaware Valley Veterans' Home. The work supports safety, mobility, and comfort through skilled craftsmanship and attention to detail. As an Adaptive Equipment Technician, you will perform the following duties:

  • Material Selection:
    Choose proper materials and operate hand and power tools to construct, modify, maintain, and repair adaptive equipment
  • Device Fabrication:
    Machine, shape, and assemble parts for specialized assistive and therapeutic devices based on resident needs
  • Orthopedic Work:
    Construct, modify, and repair orthopedic shoes and devices according to prescriptions
  • Equipment Repair:
    Restore and adjust equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, scooters, braces, and other devices used for mobility and therapy
  • Tool Operation:
    Operate machines used for shaping wood, metal, plastics, rubber, cloth, leather, and related materials
  • Supply Coordination:
    Order durable medical equipment, maintain inventory, and work with vendors to meet resident needs

Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full‑time employment (7.5 hours per day/37.5 hours per week)
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.
  • Telework:
    You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:

    In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY Minimum Experience and Training Requirement
  • Two years of experience in the fabrication, assembly, or repair of adaptive equipment.
Additional Requirement
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
