Job Description Summary

SOLV Energy is an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) and solar services provider for utility solar, high voltage substation and energy storage markets across North America. A certified Welder in the solar industry is responsible for performing welding operations to assemble and fabricate solar panels, structures, and components. They work with various materials such as steel, aluminum, and stainless steel to ensure the proper construction and installation of solar systems.

• Reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine welding requirements.
• Setting up and operating welding equipment, including MIG, TIG, and arc welding machines.
• Preparing materials for welding by cleaning, cutting, and shaping them as needed.
• Welding components together using the appropriate welding techniques and methods.
• Inspecting welded joints and structures to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
• Repairing and modifying existing solar panels and structures as necessary.
• Collaborating with engineers and other team members to resolve welding-related issues and improve processes.
• Following safety procedures and wearing protective equipment to prevent accidents and injuries.
• Maintaining welding equipment and tools in good working condition.
• Keeping accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent on projects.

• Strong understanding of construction, welding techniques and practices.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Manual dexterity.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Certification in welding and relevant experience in the solar industry.
• Solar panel installation experience preferred but can be taught.
