Fire Detection Systems Technician

What you will do

• Installing field devices, programming, troubleshooting, configuring and commissioning Fire Alarm Systems at commercial customer sites.
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics, and operational/product manuals.
• Performing site tasks and training as described.
• Using hand tools, test equipment, multi-meter, digital analyzer and commissioning devices.
• Working in unusual positions (e.g., climbing ladders, scaffolding, high lift equipment up to 40 ft., ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings).
• Carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 70 lbs.
• Working flexible hours including weekends and overnight travel may be required.
• Demonstrating a high level of customer service, leadership and team collaboration.
• Adhering to safety guidelines and procedures; following network concepts and architecture.

• At least 5 years documented experience in Fire Alarm Systems.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Texas Fire Alarm License required.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, operational product manuals.
• Experience with hand tools, test equipment, multi-meter, digital analyzer, commissioning devices.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Physical ability to carry and move equipment up to 70 lbs and work at heights up to 40 ft.
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and overnight travel.
• Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and ability to learn quickly.
• Basic understanding of network concepts and architecture; DOS and Windows.
• Associate’s degree in electronics, network, or computer science preferred.
• Level II certification or ability to obtain within 1 year preferred.

Hourly range: $24.32 - $31.00 (based on experience, education, etc.)
