This is a full-time/non-exempt position scheduled Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, with flexibility to meet the needs of the department.

• Assist in maintaining and repairing buildings, utility systems, stationary equipment, and vehicles
• Operate motorized equipment
• Complete assigned maintenance tasks using appropriate tools and equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance on buildings, vehicles, and equipment
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance and repairs
• Assist with building inspections and safety requirements
• Communicate information to supervisor and other employees
• Complete all required documentation accurately and within established timelines
• Assist the supervisor or other Center Staff with special projects or assignments
• Support building security and fill in providing support to the Plant Operations functions throughout Star Care Specialty Health System
• Share on-call duties on a rotating basis with other Maintenance employees
• Travel to all Center locations or other citywide sites, using a Center vehicle and/or personal vehicle, is required

• High School Education or equivalent
• Experience in construction, maintenance, and repair work

• Working knowledge of operation and safe use of all power and hand tools/equipment common to the maintenance field is necessary
• Knowledge of maintenance practices and principles
• Knowledge of the construction, repair, maintenance, and operation of buildings, equipment, and utility systems
• Skill in the use and maintenance of tools and equipment
• Ability to follow instruction: to work from drawings, diagrams, or blueprints
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
• Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with other employees, customers in service and the public
• Knowledge and skill in operating standard office equipment (phone, fax, copier, etc.) and personal computer with Microsoft Office products is required

• Must pass a pre‑hire drug screen and criminal background check
• Must have a Texas driver's license and be insurable under the Agency's insurance
