Facilities Technician

Encompass Health is hiring a Facilities Technician to keep our inpatient rehabilitation hospital safe, reliable, and patient-ready. In this hands-on role, you’ll perform routine and preventive maintenance on building systems, patient care areas, and equipment; complete work orders; support life-safety, fire, and infection-control standards; and respond to urgent repair needs. Working closely with clinical and operations teams, you’ll help provide a clean, comfortable, and compliant environment that supports exceptional rehabilitation outcomes and patient-centered care, with opportunities to grow your technical and leadership skills.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine, corrective, and preventive maintenance on building, grounds, and facility systems to support safe operations
  • Inspect and maintain patient care areas, public spaces, and staff areas to ensure cleanliness, comfort, and functionality
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and urgent repair needs from clinical and non-clinical staff
  • Support life safety, fire, and emergency systems testing and documentation in line with regulatory standards
  • Assist with basic HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical repairs within scope of role
  • Complete work orders accurately, maintain maintenance logs, and follow established procedures
  • Monitor facility conditions, identify hazards, and promptly address or escal
  • Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and operations teams to minimize disruption to patient care during maintenance activities
  • Support vendors and contractors on-site, ensuring work areas are safe and secure
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, participating in inspections, audits, and initiatives to enhance facility reliability and patient experience
