Facilities Coordinator I or II

The Lufkin District is looking for a Facilities Coordinator. We are looking for a detail-oriented, high-performing individual who has a strong work ethic and isn't afraid to get their hands dirty. Tasks include maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs in plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems, as well as the day-to-day tasks to keep the buildings operating and looking their best. The primary location for this position will be at the Lufkin District Headquarters, with this role being responsible for traveling throughout the district to the Area and Maintenance offices, as needed.

Salary

Facilities Coordinator I: B18 ($45,521 - $71,055) annually Facilities Coordinator II: B20 ($51,158 - $81,351) annually The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the sole right in determining the level of position based on the applicant's work experience, education, skill level and all other appropriate factors, and based on business needs.

Position Description

Coordinates, inspects, and monitors building maintenance, operations and/or service activities including grounds maintenance, housekeeping, paint shop operations, carpenter shop operations and/or security in a district or at an Austin area campus. Leads technical employees. Work requires contact with contractors and private entities. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor. Essential Duties:
The essential duties for the Facilities Coordinator I include:
Assists in periodic inspections of buildings and grounds. Coordinates parts and building material requirements with the warehouse and vendors. Coordinates, inspects, and monitors building operations and service activities including housekeeping, security, inside painting, carpentry and groundskeeping at one or more sites. Coordinates, inspects, and monitors maintenance of interiors, roofing, flooring and associated heating, ventilating, air conditioning, electrical and plumbing systems of buildings including picnic and safety rest area structures.

Coordinates, schedules, inspects, and/or monitors work of employees, contractors and/or contracted employees. Enters work order information and tracks projects in the Automated Software System and orders materials and equipment. Monitors building maintenance, condition of equipment and service contracts. Monitors buildings and systems; performs or coordinates repairs. Performs evaluation and may assist in developing and implementing the preventive maintenance program. Provides estimates of time and materials needed for each assignment.

Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Additional duties for Facilities Coordinator II include:
Assists in negotiation, development, and implementation of service contracts. Makes recommendations on violations noted during inspections and conducts follow-up inspections. Performs periodic inspections of buildings and grounds. Coordinates, inspects, and monitors building repairs, operations and service activities (including housekeeping, security and/or groundskeeping) at one or more sites. Trains employees on building maintenance, operations, groundskeeping and/or security activities. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education :
High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies. Facilities Coordinator I:
Experience : 6 years in building inspection, maintenance, utility systems, electrical, carpentry, painting.
* Facilities Coordinator II:
Experience : 8 years in building inspection, maintenance, utility systems, electrical, carpentry, painting.* *(Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis . Licenses and Certifications :
Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
