THIS POSITION IS FOR EVENING SHIFT

Summary

The Crew Leader, Custodian will perform daily cleaning, minor maintenance, yard duties, and assigned tasks in order to provide a safe and healthy learning environment in all school district facilities.

Supervisory Expectations

Manage assigned clerical staff and subordinate professional personnel in one or more sections of the department. Take responsibility for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned teams. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district's policies and applicable state and federal laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees;

addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Responsibilities
  • Sweep, mop, scrub, wax, and burnish floors, vacuum and shampoo carpets as applicable; clean, sanitize, and stock restrooms; clean and dust horizontal and vertical surfaces; remove and dispose of waste daily; maintain clean custodial closets.
  • Perform minor non-cleaning maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, toilet seats, unclogging toilets, changing ceiling tiles, touching up paint, securing windows, delivering supplies, setting up for activities, meetings, conferences, assembling and moving furniture, etc.
  • Follow lawn and facility maintenance program: mowing, weeding, edging, trimming, fertilizing, minor plant replacement, mulching, blowing off sidewalks/curbs, watering, pressure washing, graffiti removal as appropriate.
  • Open or close and secure facility, including gates, doors, windows, and alarm systems; turn on/off all lights ensuring grounds and facility are free of debris and hazards; respond to emergencies by securing perimeter.
  • Perform work independently or as part of custodial crew; cooperate in group situations; exhibit tact and consideration; display positive outlook and pleasant manner; offer assistance and support to co‑workers; actively resolve conflicts.
  • Supervise assigned personnel, monitor staff performance, and make immediate improvements.
  • Prepare all required reports.
  • Perform basic computer skills.
  • Act as head custodian in event of absence, vacancy, or as directed.
  • Possess basic comprehensive skills of working English language.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
