Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
BWXT – Waste Water Treatment Mechanic
Location:
On‑site in Lynchburg, Virginia.
- Operate equipment and processes associated with demineralized water systems, including industrial sanitary and waste‑water facilities and a nutrient reduction plant.
- Understand the importance of system documentation and attention to detail.
- Perform complex waste‑water testing, input data, and troubleshoot systems to maintain regulatory compliance.
- Assist other licensed operators with job tasks to support compliance with the Virginia Pollution Discharge Elimination System Permit (VPDES).
- Work shift hours, including weekends and holidays as assigned.
- Possess or be able to obtain a Virginia Class 3 (or greater) waste‑water operators license within two years of job acceptance.
- Work from ladders and other elevated catwalk/platforms is required.
- Minimum education of a High School Diploma or GED.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a related field.
- Must be able to obtain a DOE (Q) Clearance and U.S. citizenship.
- Respirator protection will be required as necessary for specific job tasks.

Applicants selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Position requires U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance, involving an extensive criminal and financial background investigation, drug test, and previous employment reference verifications.
