Custodial Worker - part-time on-call

Isle of Wight County is recruiting for part-time on-call Custodial Workers who will fill in as a substitute Custodial Worker as needed to perform cleaning duties related to the operation of assigned County Buildings.

• Cleans restrooms
• Replenishes restrooms
• Empties trash
• Empties recycle bins
• Cleans desks where applicable
• Cleans tables in conference room
• Vacuum offices and common areas
• Cleans interior glass
• Cleans drinking fountains
• Dusts partitions, cabinets and vents
• Mops floors
• Cleans elevators / shines stainless steel
• Operates chemical dispensing units
• Properly measures chemicals that are not provided in dispenser form
• Understands how to read MSDS sheets
• Properly labels chemicals
• Wears proper PPE when working with chemicals
• Observes all approved safety and health policies and procedures pertaining to work activities and performs all tasks in a safe and healthy manner in accordance with County policy

This is medium work:
Exerting up to 50 pounds of force. Requires the use of fingers, balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pushing, pulling, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.

Requires a High School Diploma / GED and some general custodial / cleaning experience. The positions are part-time, on‑call, as needed to fill in as a substitute Custodial Worker, generally working Monday–Friday from 5pm to 9pm. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis as there are multiple positions to be filled.
