Position Summary
The Elementary Art Teacher is responsible for developing students' interest, ability, and creativity in visual arts by implementing a standards-based curriculum. The teacher fosters a positive learning environment that encourages artistic expression, critical thinking, and appreciation of the arts in grades 2-5. Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district, state, and national visual arts standards.
• Instruct students in techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, and digital art.
• Foster creativity, self-expression, and confidence through hands-on projects.
• Incorporate art history, cultural perspectives, and interdisciplinary connections into lessons.
• Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of grades, behavior, and attendance.
• Organize and display student artwork throughout the school and at exhibitions or community events.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and respectful classroom environment.
• Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and parents to support student development.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.
• Maintain inventory of art supplies and request materials within the school's budget. Qualifications
•
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Art Education or related field
• Valid teaching license or certification for elementary visual arts in the state
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Preferred:
• Master's degree in Art Education or Fine Arts
• Experience teaching in an elementary school setting
• Familiarity with digital art tools and platforms Work Environment
Standard school hours (with occasional evening events or exhibitions)
Classroom, studio, and school-wide settings
May involve lifting supplies, standing for long periods, or working with various materials
