Under the general supervision of principal, the 7th Grade Language Arts Teacher will plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Additional subject area approvals are a plus. The candidate must possess or be willing to pursue ESL or ENL approval. Spanish proficiency is a plus.
Education, Experience and Certification:

• Bachelor's degree in Education required;
  Master's degree preferred.
• Valid Professional Educator Licensure from the Illinois State Board of Education.
• Appropriate endorsement for position.
• Previous teaching experience with elementary school-aged children preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout school and classroom.
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
• Must be able to traverse classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child.

Terms of Employment:

• 180 day/10 month position.
• Evaluation conducted in accordance with the evaluation plan, the Illinois School Code and applicable regulations of the Illinois State Board of Education.
• Salary and increase set by Professional Negotiation Contract.

Working Conditions:

• In person and on site in a school/classroom environment.
• Close contact with school age children.
