Position: LEAD MAINTENANCE TECH

Responsibilities

We are currently seeking a compassionate and hardworking Lead Maintenance Technician to be part of our Plant Operations Team. The Lead Maintenance Technician performs a variety of tasks, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, testing and inspections of physical plant equipment, preventive maintenance and various janitorial duties. Provides planning and supervision for preventive maintenance activities and labor to accomplish those tasks including but not limited to Life Safety, Environment of Care for patient areas and associated inspections and record keeping for those tasks.

Qualifications

Education: High School graduate or equivalent. Two years of technical or trade school preferred.

Experience: Must have at least 5 years experience in the area of building maintenance and basic mechanical engineering, preferably in a health care facility. Must have at least 3 years experience supervising maintenance staff and department activities. Must have experience operating a variety of hand/power tools and equipment ensuring proper safety precautions.

Additional Requirements: Must have some knowledge of physical plant operations and Joint Commission/CMS requirements for record keeping. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.

  • Knowledge of basic maintenance duties.
  • Knowledge of all code procedures.
  • Knowledge of risk and safety precautions, Joint Commission/CMS requirements for Life Safety, Environment of Care and Utilities integrity.
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Skill in telephone etiquette and paging procedures.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to recommend/take corrective courses of action that would improve the functioning of the department’s systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients and co-workers; ability to read and speak English.
  • Ability to operate vehicles as needed
  • Ability to safely operate power tools needed for duties
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of adapting to the various patient age groups (adolescent, adult and geriatric).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to meet corporate deadlines.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Physical, Mental, and Special Demands

  • Ability to work a 40-hour work week; flex hours if needed
  • Ability to move continuously is required in the completion of job requirements.
  • Ability to operate machinery and equipment as listed below.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, kneel, balance, push, pull, and twist.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds may be required without assistance.
  • Ability to work under any weather conditions inside or out without regard for temperature, anytime of the day or night.
  • Ability to read, write and follow simple instructions.
  • Ability to use hands in the performance of the use of maintenance equipment and tools.
  • Ability to handle a variety of repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to respond to exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
  • Additional Requirements
    : A strong knowledge of The Joint Commission, OSHA regulations, and patient rights standards and all other applicable federal and state laws and regulations governing mental health care facilities.
