Performs moderately heavy routine manual work in housekeeping and janitorial cleaning tasks in schools and facilities. Functions follow a well‑established routine and involve the use of proper methods and materials in cleaning and caring for building, equipment and schools. Performs minor maintenance work. Work is performed under direct supervision and reviewed through results obtained.

• Scrubs, mops, waxes floors; dusts and polishes furniture, washes windows, woodwork, toilets, blinds, washrooms, fixtures and related items.
• Empties waste baskets; takes trash to designated areas for disposal.
• Applies knowledge of cleaning materials and equipment used in janitorial work in public buildings.
• Follows instructions and deals courteously with others.
• Performs strenuous tasks on a daily basis, including routine heavy lifting.
• Performs related work as required.
• Helps with deliveries.
• Operates the fork lift when required.
• Performs minor maintenance.
• Polices the grounds as necessary.
• Assists all departments in arranging rooms for meetings and training.
• Attends local, state and/or national meetings designed to enhance job performance.
• Adheres to the Mississippi Code of Ethics.
• Maintains confidentiality and privacy of all Desoto County Schools' records.

• Ability to understand and follow simple instructions; good physical condition.
• Forklift experience is preferred.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
